Hardiness: hardiness rating 1. (hardy as long as the roots do not freeze) Lotus is a water plant growing in the mud of shallow ponds and lagoons. The leaves of this amazing Sacred Lotus are disc-shaped and can grow up to about 90 cm wide. The leaves either float on or protrude above the surface of the water. The Flowers of the Sacres Lotus are large and pink colored, truly breathtaking! As the name already indicates, this Lotus is considered sacred in Buddhist and Hindu religions. Nelumbo nucifera, Sacred Lotus is native to China and Japan.
